A pen and ink drawing of three old women, with three young women and a mountainous cityscape in the background. The main figure, with her winged helmet, was modeled on a Ferrarese print, Pupila Augusta, which included three winged putti along with the woman and her scrying bowl. The three figures on the fish were modeled on an engraving of The Birth of Venus, by Peregrino da Cesena. Dürer's monogram and "Pupila Augusta" are reversed, indicating that this was intended for an engraving. Dürer used a version of this cityscape in his 1506 Feast of the Rose Garlands, and his 1519 Saint Anthony Reading.
